This includes foundational services such as the API Gateway, Event Gateway, and File Transfer Services.<br>We are seeking a Vice President, Software Engineering to join our St. Louis team, focusing on building and operating our Global File Transfer platform. This platform supports secure, seamless data transfers across Mastercards global infrastructureincluding Mastercards next-generation switch.<br><br>This is an exciting senior engineering leadership role within a globally distributed team, passionate about delivering resilient, scalable solutions to our customers.<br><br>Role<br>In this role, you will:<br> Drive collaboration across engineering, product management, enterprise functions, and regional business teams.<br> Define the technical strategy, architecture, design, and execution for delivering an end-to-end File Transfer Management solution that scales with business needs.<br> Lead engineering teams with a strong focus on nonfunctional requirementsincluding reliability, performance, scalability, and security.<br> Champion an operational mindset, ensuring systems are robust, observable, and maintainable.<br> Drive change management initiatives across engineering and cross-functional teams, balancing innovation with risk mitigation.<br> Establish and enforce engineering standards, governance models, and operational excellence practices.<br> Mentor and develop engineering leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, resilience, and continuous improvement.<br> Manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners, ensuring alignment with Mastercards engineering standards, delivery timelines, and strategic goals.<br><br>All About You<br>Technology Expertise<br> Experience working across distributed and mainframe technology stacks<br> Deep experience with Java and event-driven architectures..<br> Strong understanding of platform observability, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.<br> Experience with Java, Shell Scripting, SQL <br> Mainframe technologies including COBOL and advantage<br><br>Ideal Candidate Profile<br> Proven experience leading large-scale engineering organizations with a focus on platform operations.<br> Deep understanding of nonfunctional engineering disciplines and how they impact business outcomes.<br> Demonstrated success in change management, especially in environments undergoing transformation or consolidation.<br> Strong communicator and systems thinker, able to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.<br> Experience managing vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, performance oversight, and integration with internal teams.<br> We value thoughtful execution over rapid iteration, and platform integrity over short-term gains.<h3></h3><p style="text-align:inherit"></p>Mastercard is a merit-based, inclusive, equal opportunity employer that considers applicants without regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disabled or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
